Die Arbeit bezieht sich auf das nahe gelegene Thälmann-Denkmal, eines der letzten Versuche des realen Sozialismus zur Konstruktion einer systemkonformen Erinnerungskultur, gleichzeitig ein Zitat Heiner Müller verwendend: es ist ein Irrtum, dass die Toten tot sind. Die wie an Perlenschnüren aufgereihten grotesken kleinen Köpfe stellen einen Verweis auf die Tausenden von deutschen Kommunisten, Linksliberalen und Intellektuellen dar, die in den 1930er Jahren im vermeintlich sicheren sowjetischen Exil ermordet wurden. |

The work refers to the nearby existing monument of the historic leader of the Communist Party of Germany, Ernst Thälmann. The construction of the monument in the end of the 80ies was one of the least attempts of the east-german government to create a system-compliant culture of remembrance. It uses a quotation of Heiner Müller: it´s a mistake to believe, that the deceased are dead. The like a string of pearls arranged small grotesque clay heads are a reference to the thousands of german communists, left wing liberals and intellectuals, which are murdered in the supposed safe soviet exile by the stalinist regime during the 1930ies.
